What to do with the used refill?
The refill of your water purifier needs to be changed every 6 months or when there is a reduction in water flow, to ensure the quality of the water you consume.
According to ABNT's Brazilian Standard, NBR 10004, waste is classified into the following classes:
Class I: Hazardous;
II: Non-hazardous;
Class II A: Non-inert;
II B: Inert.
The filter element of the refill, which is activated carbon, is considered Class II A: Non-Inert waste. This means that they are not flammable, corrosive, toxic, pathogenic, nor do they tend to undergo a chemical reaction. Furthermore, they may have properties such as: biodegradability, combustibility or water solubility.
In this way, the residues that are in this classification can be discarded in recyclable waste.
So, now that you know the correct way to dispose of your refill, do your part and contribute to the environment.
